Install Looma on Shopify

This guide will walk you through adding the Looma AI chat and search widget to your Shopify store.

Prerequisites

• A Shopify store with an active theme
• Your Looma installation code (available in Dashboard → Site Settings → Installation)

Method 1: Theme Editor (Recommended)

Step 1: Open Theme Code Editor

1. Log in to your Shopify Admin panel
2. Navigate to Online Store → Themes
3. Find your active theme and click Actions → Edit code (or the three dots menu → Edit code)

Step 2: Edit the Theme Layout

1. In the left sidebar, find the Layout folder
2. Click on theme.liquid — this is the main layout file that loads on every page

Step 3: Add the Looma Script

1. Find the closing </head> tag in the file
2. Paste your Looma installation code right before </head>:

3. Click Save

Step 4: Verify

1. Visit your Shopify store
2. You should see the Looma chat bubble appear in the bottom-right corner
3. In the Looma Dashboard, the installation status will show as active

Method 2: Shopify App "Custom Code" Sections

If you prefer not to edit theme code directly:

1. Go to Online Store → Themes → Customize
2. In the theme editor, look for App embeds or Custom liquid section
3. Add a new Custom Liquid section
4. Paste the Looma installation code
5. Save and publish

Google Merchant Feed for Shopify

Shopify provides several ways to generate a Google Merchant product feed:

Option 1: Google & YouTube Channel App (Recommended)

1. Install the Google & YouTube app from the Shopify App Store
2. Connect your Google Merchant Center account
3. Your product feed will be synced automatically
4. The feed URL will be available in Google Merchant Center

Option 2: Third-Party Feed Apps

Popular apps for generating product feeds:

• DataFeedWatch — advanced feed management
• GoDataFeed — multi-channel feed optimization
• Simprosys Google Shopping Feed — simple setup

Option 3: Native Shopify Product Feed

Shopify generates a basic product feed at:

https://your-store.myshopify.com/collections/all.atom

WARNING

The native Atom feed has limited product data. For best results with Looma AI, use the Google & YouTube Channel app or a dedicated feed app that provides full Google Merchant XML format.

Troubleshooting

Widget doesn't appear

• Make sure the script is placed before </head> in theme.liquid
• Clear your browser cache and try in incognito mode
• Check if any ad blockers or browser extensions are blocking the script
• Verify your site token is correct in the Looma Dashboard

Script conflicts

If other scripts on your Shopify store conflict with Looma:

• Try moving the script to just before </body> instead of </head>
• The defer attribute ensures the script loads after the page is ready
